Hailey and Clare have been best friends for a long time but this fall, their friendship will end when Claire's grandparents plan to move to Florida. Worse, their beach front hangout called the Capri Beach club is going to be bulldozed for a wildlife sanctuary. The summer days go to quickly until one night a storm brings them a new friend, Aquamarine. The mermaid shelters in the pool but falls in love with the club's cook. While the girl's aid her romance and help her back home, Hailey overcomes her fear of water. All of the teens become closer friends and much more able to deal with the change brought by the move and end of the club. A short, interesting story with helpful exercises at the back of the book.
